  • My family have been patients of Dr. Sterling since moving to S. Florida and we couldn't be more pleased. His "bed-side" manner is wonderful. He is always willing to spend the time necessary to explain procedures and answer questions. Unlike other Dermatologist who are "cut" happy, Dr. Sterling is not and suggests only that which is necessary.

Botox FAQs

It is possible to reverse the botox effect?

The effect of botox cannot be reversed and if they come out with an outcome that they’re not happy with, there is no one that can reverse that protein and that person is going to have to wait for a good 4-6 months for the effect to wear off.

What is Botox?

Botox is a neurotoxin that was developed in the early 1990’s by an ophthalmologist who used it to control muscular contractions in and around the eye. A couple of years later, dermatologists started to use it to control muscular movements in the mid and upper face. Today, Botox is by far, the most common cosmetic procedure with tens of millions of successful cases that have been done worldwide. I tell my patients the important thing is to choose a physician who uses a lot of Botox has many years of experience and who is board certified.

How long do the effects of Botox last for?

The effects of Botox last only 4-6months depending on the individual, the technique, and the individual’s metabolism. If a person is happy and repeats the therapy and repeats it again and again and again, those muscles will gradually shrink and Botox will actually work even longer in certain individuals. If a person decides after time “I don’t wanna use these injections anymore” they’ll basically return back to their baseline where they started.

What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?

When dermatologist talks about Botox, we try not to use the brand names. Botox it’s a brand of a neurotoxin. Currently, in the United States, there are three different brands and their all pretty similar. Those are Botox which is the market leader, Xeomin, and Dysport. The differences between them in terms of effectiveness and the duration of their results are basically very similar.
